2017, like all years, was once again a great year when it came to metal releases. Way too many albums too choose from. But, alas, a top 15 has to be made.
The top fifteen can be seen in this list. Albums by Argus, Black Cilice, Clandestine Blaze, Dead Lord, Degial, Dodecahedron, Drug Honkey, Execration, Fen, Forsaken, Fuoco Fatuo, Gorephilia, Heretoir, Illimitable Dolor, Incinerator, Infernal Majesty, Jupiterian, Lantern, MahakalaMourning Dawn, Night Demon, Ophis, Pagan Altar, Paradise Lost, Phrenelith, Possession, Process Of Guilt, Primitive Man, River Of Souls, Rude, Schammasch, Shaarimoth, Tchornobog, Thantifaxath, Turia, Unaussprechilchen Kulten, Undergang, Ulsect, Usnea, Vallenfyre, Wolves In The Throne Room, Wound missed out on the finalized top 15, but are totally worthy to be heard.

Venenum, Bell Witch and Sorcerer are awesome releases this year. I couldn't stand the Pallbearer album though - a little too wankery for me. I'm looking into the other releases you put there

Both Bell Witch and Loss were a couple of years too late for me as I rarely enjoy any (non-drone) doom album these days. also you get some complain for almost not having any black metal here.

Just because you can't see the value in something doesn't mean you should dismiss it entirely, and to do so is honestly pretty sad. You can't just say everything you dislike is intrinsically bad. Only album on this list, I listened to this year is "The Crowning Of The Fire King". Which is at the moment in my top 5 of 2017. Very good album. Seems like I'll have some other albums to check out. I really need to check out Mirror Reaper, I've only heard good things about it so far.

In addition, no one really expects you to enjoy drone, given the bands that you have listed as your favorite bands. I'm not saying that you cannot have your opinion about drone. Just that your taste is a bit different?

Youre not a TRoB fan are you? If I remember correctly you didnt feature any TRoB in your last decade list either. And my guess is that it was you that added Vassafor to the database but didnt listen to Malediction? Good list and nice to see so many great bands in the bands that missed out
