And that's the crux. You are proud of a narrative. Not the reality of it.

That's an anecdotal point, sure. But sometimes you only need one example to disprove what other people present to you as a rule.

I have a Chinese-born Canadian friend who could tell you a lot about the everyday racism she experiences in Canada. She would laugh your pride in its "multicultural identity" out the door.

There’s nothing wrong with having pride in your own country.

That's cultural pride, not nationalist pride. But I stand by my point that any pride of that sort makes you blind to problems.

And what about Canadian pride? You can acknowledge the past genocide of indigenous people, and still support canadas vast multicultural identity.

And you don't see how that is a nationalist view? You are proving my point, not the opposite.
