Nirnaeth started to play Metal in 2002, and today we have their first Demo "Nothing But Ashes". If all the compositions of this first demo seem to be really interesting, catchy and well done, there is however a big problem: the production. I must be clear and honest, it's hard to have a good opinion on the music of the band only because of this very bad point? But for sure the only problem of this album, comes from the sound, the rest is more than ok you'll see?

As I said in my introduction, the problem of this demo comes from the production, from the sound. I don't talk about the artwork and layouts, which are simple but really good, but only about the awful recording of the album. In fact I know that a lot of Black Metal bands want to have a very minimalist sound, that's maybe the case of Nirnaeth but it don't help young bands which want to start in my opinion (it can kill you with the labels for example).
But if you forget the fact that you lose a lot of the music in reason of the bad recording, that's not bad at all? The 4 songs are 4 pure classics Black Metal songs brutal but melodic [I don't talk about any symphonic Black Metal here], this true Black Metal [which some parts which can be compared to Death Metal maybe?].
The musicians of the band aren't bad at all, the voice of singer for example is really nice, and the drummer is a very good musician too?
The four songs are interesting, there is a strong potential with this band, no doubt, but we all want a better sound for their upcoming demo? We will see the real potentiality of this band?

Well I will follow this band, because with some better means of recording, we will have something very good for sure in the future. This demo has some very good songs, [especially the 2nd one "In Morte Vita" with its really catchy chorus] and their work is promising. This is a real good Black Metal, and it shows one more time that we have some good young extreme bands in France. Nirnaeth is one of them, and they need all our support for their future...
