Yesod just dropped. As much as I love Nocturnus this one sounds pretty average and light years away from heights of The Key

Haven't jammed it in full just yet, but I'll say I'm certainly not looking for another album like The Key out of these guys. Not only is it very unlikely to happen, but it would be rather boring if it did as well. The Old School bands who strike back and just try to ape their classic albums to death in the process have never struck me as that intriguing. At least on Paradox they proved they could give their Old School sound a bit of a modern update and not totally suck in the process. Here I'm looking for them to go a little deeper into unfamiliar territory, and hopefully they have

This is good I like how they play keyboards in DM, amazing band always puts good song writing together and great album is done.

Still sitting on it a bit, but I'll probably give it a go tomorrow. Will drop some comment here when I do, might review it as well

I personally quite like Yesod, and the album as a whole is better than I expected it to be. I find it more engaging than Paradox, and Paradox was pretty good.

Yeah, I'm gonna second Nik's comment for sure, definitely more engaging than Paradox. Just finished my first playthrough. Surprisingly groovy and a bit Voivod - ian at points too, which I'm definitely not complaining about

And that's a funny line to draw actually, because this album really reminds me of how The Wake was for Voivod. Target Earth was like the test run just to prove that they could still hold things down with the new lineup, but then after proving that, they went a little deeper and weirder on The Wake.

Same with these guys here. Now that they already proved they can still kick ass with Paradox, they can afford to go a little more out on a limb, and here they do. Bravo!

Now you make to refresh Voivod. It has been decade or two since I gave them proper listen.

I am very pleasantly surprised with this one. After listening to Yesod I was far from being impressed and have to admit I was bit scared of the whole album as in my mind Yesod was just a vanguard heralding disastrous album.

I am very happy I was wrong. Definitely better than paradox and I think they may have discovered, or I should say rediscovered their path.

Probably just because it isn't a complete carbon copy of The Key, which, as I said before, would have been a total snoozefest IMO. Good for them for striking out a little more for something pretty similar, but still noticeably different
