At the least Litham deserves a thread in this forum if not much more.

What we have here probably the best metal band from, Africa, yes you read it right right, from Africa. Litham is an Algerian band formed in 1996.

I took the easy way out and used the classification of prog death metal and posted this thread to the extreme metal forum, it could actually be as well in the melodic metal metal forum if anyone thinks that would be better.

A few words about the music, what we have is a really fresh and original mix of prog, death metal and "oriental sounds", I don't know much about Algerian folk music so at first I'll avoid using that term, maybe some smarter than I could sort that out for us.

They've put out only one album so far called Dhal Ennar. Oh, forgot to mention, all the lyrics are in Arabic.

Probably the first african band to release an album ? And not a bad one I must say !!

Litham is great, actually as you said they mix many things together especially prog and growls. I'm not proficient when it comes to algerian folk but I can imagine they got inspired from it, also since they use some traditional percussions (not well heard in the album but still !) if only the production was a bit better, it'll be awesome. Guitarists have done a great job there.

You must hear that band, just..for the sake of curiosity about Africa at least.

Yeah Litham on of the first Arabian bands, very good album "Dhal Ennar" which means "went straight to the hell" i guess this is the only album they released.
