They’re not even in the same conversation when it comes to creativity and influence. Or how about Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish from a few years ago over DSOTM and Kid A? That one got a laugh from me as well
It’s not that I “dislike some music”, it’s that if you’re talking top 100 of all time, there’s no way Take Care by Drake should be in the same conversation and The Velvet Underground and Nico, much less several spaces above it
Finnish power metallers Stratovarius performed in Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland, on November 19th, where a DVD was filmed for a future release. The show was part of the band's Jörg Farewell Tour, the last one to feature Stratovarius longtime drummer Jörg Michael, who is leaving the group for personal reasons. Jörg, who has been in the band for sixteen years, will play all the remaining tour dates until the end of January.
Stratovarius is inviting its fans to come up with a title for the forthcoming DVD by posting their suggestions on the band's official Facebook page. The winner will receive two copies of the DVD and a credit in the liner notes.

I named "Tampere Under Flaming Skies". I know it's too basic but i think it sums up the whole thing. A new live dvd since it has a title from a song off the new album and Tampere shows that it is in Finland ...
"Cheesequest 2011"
"Live from Atop a Rainbow"
"To Put Finland Asleep"
"Power Boner"
Oh trust me, although I'm not a fan, there are far worse bands in power than Strato.
Yes, you can find far worse in the genre. That being said, I don't see the relevance of this band nowadays.
Imo, it would have been better to stop around the time of the "Elements" albums.
But perhaps this comment is more motivated by my perception that Powermetal is not relevant since around the millenia than by my feeling towards this band specifically. I see Powermetal as a dying genre that already gave all the good it had long ago.

They shake your hand and they smile and they buy you a drink
They say we'll be your friends we'll stick with you till the end
But everybody's only looking out for themselves
And you say who can you trust I'll tell you nobody

Well, you know what, I think you're pretty much right. Out of all power metal bands that appeal to me, two are on a hiatus, one issued an average album in 2011, one issued a good but a terribly unoriginal album, and two took genre turns. Having said that, maybe some true fans of the genre, and of Strato would disagree with us.

Oh, I know. I wasn't attacking the band in a malicious way, just poking fun. I enjoy some of their stuff, although I'm not a fan. But I *would* consider myself a fan of power metal; I like to think that I've heard the worst and the best. ;3

I think I've heard the best and the worst as well, or at least I hope that there are no worse things than the worst I've heard.

My friend has this album, and I totally forgot about this song. xD Such a Final Countdown ripoff (not that I think too highly of that song either).
Indeed. It's impossible to not make a link between both songs.

And what about Bon Jovi rip-offs like "Carry Me Over", "Lost In Space", etc.? (Avantasia)
You can hardly find more awful than that.

Color me surprised. I figured you were of fan of Avantasia.
Profile >>> favorite bands/album ratings. If you see less power metal than expected, that just means I think the power metal kids need an eloquent defender when the kvlt dudes get all over them like dogs on squeaky toys

You'd think that they have enough dragons and rainbow warriors to protect them from the forces of evil. :/
They could dress eveybody in the crowd in red and white bobble hats and call it Where's Tolkki? Then you spend the whole length of the DVD looking for the mad former guitarist as he plots getting back in to the band.
You win sir.
I love awesome people-spotting on DVDs. My best find was some lame ass goth chicks (not that goth chicks are lame ass, but these in particular were) who cried during every other song in the whatsitcalled Nightwish DVD from 2005. Or maybe just in one song, I haven't seen it in ages.
(yes, I memorize years better)
