There used to be a thread of Mordred in the old forum(thank's to Ozman)

Morded was an 80's thrash band from san Francisco.
There were lot's of but Mordred is different and deserves some extra attention. The reason is because they created totally unique sound by mixing funk music, scratching and rap vocals(successfully)

This band is a real sterotype destroyer, that alone is good reason enough to check them out.

They've released 3 full-length albums
1. Fool's Game (1989)
2.In this Life (1991)
3.The Next room (1994)

I really like Mordred. Saw 'em live a couple of tiems as well. And during their tour for I This Life Scott Holderby (the vocalist) performed live while totally painted blue from head to toe. And since the guy is small he reminded me of a smurf.

Except for the three full-length albums they also released a mini album called Vision, that one really flowed being IMO the perfect mix of metal, funk, soul, and scratching. Great laid back summer evening metal.

Be wrned that when you'll go to metal-archives you'll get crappy reviews which absiolutely don't do justice to both Fool's Game and In This Life. Fool's Game has a cool cover of Rick James' Super Freak on it.

I never knew he was painted blue during live acts, and a metal band covering superfreak, that doesn't happen often in metal

Here's a link to picture whre's Scott Holderby is painted blue in concert

That's the kind of attitude we need in metal nowdays instead of that Tr00 kvltness

Nice thread, good to see that not only a few know about this band (I won't give names now). This is a very hard to come by band here in romania, don't really know how many have heard of them. I only have "The Next Room". Which I heard is not their best release.

This thread is dead, so it seems afterall only a few know them. Pretty much the same over here.

What do you guys think of their last album, quite different from the previous ones and most probably not as popular(if tha word can be used here at all). I like that jazzy feel that pops in and out from that album.

I've got 2 of their releases, their last album "In This Room" and "the "Vision" EP. I never got around to getting their earlier albums.

"In This Room" is OK but near the end are 2 songs In A Turn and The Next Room Over which are slightly different in style but both are so great that they totally outclass the rest of the album. I just wish that the whole album could have beeen in the same vein as those 2 songs.

The "Vision" EP is wall to wall brilliance, especially the song "Reach", but all 6 songs on it are good. This was a very good buy.

I wouldn't worry about those reviews. The frequent references to "fags" and "Tony Kakko" (what on earth does he have to do with a late 80's/early 90's band from San Fransisco anyway?) are a dead giveaway as to the type of people responsible for them.
