okay, so basically, im looking for some suggestions and recommendations for recording equipment and software etc. im looking for something relatively cheap, with a mixer that basically can get ideas onto computer with good quality (digital cameras have ridiculously large amounts of background interference ) so any suggestions are a great help thanks in advance

It's not cheap, but on sunday I'm going to pick up Pro-Tools. It's top of the line recording software and it can hold up to I think 32 tracks. I'm also getting drumkit from hell, and some other things. But yeah, pro-tools is a very well recieved brand.

As far as my other things guys, I'm getting some Mics, pop filters, cables etc. I was wondering, seeing as how I have zero experince in recording, if there were any other suggestions. Just general set up and equipment you could suggest.

I think I'll resurrect this thread with a question.

I recently started recording guitar on my PC using Guitar Rig and a a 6.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to connect the guitar to my soundcard's microphone input. The quality is much better than I expected it to be although I'm unable to tell whether this is actually good enough to be used for proper recording - as a replacement for amps, mics and so on.

The computer I'm recording on is quite old now and I'm only using the integrated sound card. I'm planning to upgrade to a new PC in the near future and will most likely end up buying a better soundcard.

Since I currently don't know much about recording, I sometimes feel as if there are certain rules as to what works, what doesn't and what's considered good enough for recording etc. so if anybody could help clear this up for me, that would be awesome.
