It's not a certain chauvinism which urges me to create a topic on this group but rather the road crossed slowly and step by step by this group to reach the reconnaisance that it achieved today.

The image of the French metal was not still flattering except our borders. But groups of the Gojira' tempering can be to change this by proposing as they make it a quality music.

For me, I like this band since their start. I was able, as many of my fellow metalheads countrymen, to see and to follow this group to reach at this deserved recognition. My favorite album is "The Link" with its concept of a tree as link enters the earth and the sky. But "From Mars To Sirius" is also a fantastic album.

What interresse me in this topic, it's to know what pleases you in this group (your favorite album or song for example), if you took quite hard the Gojira' machine on stage and what you have think of it, .....
In brief the reasons which make you like or not this group around a discussion and around an exchange of opinion

In your keyboards...

Just started getting into Gojira, really. I saw them when they opened up for Metallica last October, and man, these guys have such a unique energy to them! I've been listening to "From Mars To Sirius" on and off, and really enjoy just about every song off the album. My favorite thing about them, I think, is the groove to their music. They have very addicting riffs and rhythms, in my opinion. I plan to further my Gojira experience with "The Link," next.

Screams of pain and agony,
Rent the silent air.
Amidst the dying bodies,
Blood runs everywhere.
The figure stands expressionless,
Impassive and alone.
Unmoved by this victory,
And the seeds of death he's sown.

Gojira are fantastic. i started on 'The Link' Over the flows is an awsome song but my favourite album is Terra Incognita. From Mars goes without saying and probably the best place to start for new fans. love the new Album

Agreed of From Mars to Sirius being the best place to start, it's where I started with them and it's still my favorite.

I've really enjoyed all the albums so far, although I personally felt The Link was a little bit (only a small margin) weaker than the other 3 albums, probably due to its production.

Saw them play here in Bergen the 22. It was just amazing! The energy they transfered to the audience was incredible! When they played songs like Backbone and Clone I just wanted to explode!

Gojira, thanks for making me happy every single day with your beautiful and brutal songs!

They are indeed hugely charismatic live, even sexy I would say. I really need to re-listen to the last album again.

Gojira always puts a smile on my face. They are one of my favourite bands. For me personally From mars to sirius is their best followed by The link and terra incognita. Way of all flesh was my least favourite, though the production was top notch I didn't like the songs as much. I guess toxic garbage island would be my favourite from that album.
I started listening to these guys when they released From mars to sirius. MS had this compliation back then which one of their songs were on if i'm not mistaken, and from then I've been hooked on them.
It makes me happy to see them get the recognition they deserve, I used to always feel that they were so under-rated. But now after their metallica tour i'm sure alot of people will sit up and take notice of them. Plus their live act is something that will make people want to go and buy their albums.
I have only seen their Link alive dvd, but i hope i get to see them atleast once in my life.

What I love about Gojira is that there is no special gimmick. They don't do anything out there or crazy. Gojira just writes bad ass metal songs.

What coincidence. I just put on their "The Way Of All Flesh" album and came to this website, to see this thread bumped up.

Great band, no doubt.

I think they would fit better in the alternative metal forum these days. Anyway, am I the only person who think Gojira qualifies as sludge metal? I've always considered them to more resemble sludge metal than groove metal in particular.

Have you guys took a listen to their last song ? It's not that good... I'am french and I'm a huge Gojira fan since I'm kid but after "L'enfant sauvage" feels like their albums are not that good anymore.

The song "Another World" is for me it's less mediocre, but it's ok 7/10

Yeah Magma was really meh to me and Another World was the same. They shifted their focus a lot, which might be the reason. But I think this atmospheric stuff worked much better on L'enfant sauvage than on Magma.

I don't use "nu metal" term as offensive or pejorative.
I may like Deftones and don't like Gojira at the same time.
