In a new update, the sons of northern darkness now revealed that they will begin recording the new opus in January 2017 at Abyss Studio. You can expect a new album next year and guitarist Demonaz will be handling the vocals.

After last year's drama, Immortal is still alive. More, they've completed the writing process of their brand new album! According to their latest statement, the upcoming release "will be their darkest and coldest album in a long time: pure Blashyrkh metal the way their fans know it, with massive majestic riffs, grim frostbitten vocals and tales from they mighty realm. Fast and furious tracks, epic tracks and longer playtime than any of their previous albums." Founding Immortal member, lyricist and guitarist Demonaz is now also handling the vocals. The remaining members of Immortal have talked about the trademark case which was closed by "Patentstyret" (Norway's Patent Office) in November 2015. Guitarist/lyricist Demonaz and drummer Horgh can now share their side of the story for the first time. Former frontman Abbath Doom Occulta has formed his own project Abbath after he left the Norwegian metallers saying at the time that he attempted to secure exclusive rights to the band's name and logo because he thought Horgh and Demonaz had quit the band. Now Demonaz and Horgh claim that the conflict was due to personal problems and that Abbath ruined the band's progress.

Windy City-based blackened death grind unit Immortal Bird has confirmed the official details of their anticipated Empress/Abscess debut full-length. The stunning cover art by Kikyz1313 (Akrasia) can be seen below. The album will be released as a collaborative effort, with Broken Limbs Recordings taking charge with vinyl and cassettes, while Immortal Bird will be self-releasing the CD/digital version under the moniker Manatee Rampage Recordings. Empress/Abscess will see a release on July 14th, 2015. Teaser tracks will be unveiled soon.

The band's frontman Abbath has released a statement regarding the future of Immortal or rather the end. Essentially, Abbath will move on with a new band under his name and the name of Immortal, for the time being, will rest. Abbath will perform at Blastfest next year and already has announced a show in London this September as well.
