Biography
The history of Nota Profana begins in July, 2005 when the bassist Jose Luis Castillo takes the initiative to bring together a great quantity of musicians to create a project of versions of the German band called Haggard.
After publishing some announcements in conservatoires, musical institutes and concerts, it was possible to assemble in November the first alignment of what would be called "The Haggard Project".
At February 2006, the band had an advanced repertoire already, but at the same time a great quantity of internal problems that gave origin to the new and current alignment with the revenue of the drummer Brian Simmons, the singer Renzo Lucena, the violinists Ana Paola Alarcón and Sonali Zambrano.
The tests began under the direction of the guitarist Carlos Masquera, who is in charge of the arrangements and composition, meanwhile the violista Daniel Padrón joined the band.
In July 2006, got into the band the cellista Joanmary Montes, the oboist Hairin Colina, the flute-player Loidmary Perenguez, the contro-bassist Erika Perera, the soprano Susana Dávila and the pianist Maria Eugenia Vásquez and from this moment Project Haggard became what today is Nota Profana.
In December of the same year, joined Williams Mora and two percussionists: Victor Villarroel and Edgardo Acosta.
To complete the definitive alignment of the band, in September 2007, joined the mezzo soprano Marina Bello, Mariana Rojas as electrical bassist, Jhonatan Perez and Daniel Bello, both as cornists.
This is the way that Nota Profana turns into one of the first national permanent bands of symphonic rock, trying to spread versions of our own classic music, soundtracks and versions of recognized bands with the same trend, besides having the whole repertoire of music composed by the proper members of the band.
This project has as aim in the present, breaking with the taboo of rock, wanting to arrive to all kinds of public and to be recognized and estimated in the same way as classic music is accepted, just because the rock that we promote is surrounded with myths that mist the real musical sense of this genre and we believe that it is time to give another content to the meaning of this music. Venezuela has a great quantity of new young people with innovative ideas arisen in the national system of orchestra and these ideas have nourished to a great quantity of genres of the music. We took the way of rock and believe that it is time to have faith and confidence in these new ideas coming to all kinds of public with the mergers of rock and classic music.
With the revenue of the German soprano Gaby Koss (ex-Haggard) to Nota Profana, the band has obtained great acceptance worldwide, giving course for concerts in Mexico to promote Nota Profana for the first time abroad.
In September 2009, Nota Profana made their first international tour, visiting three cities of Mexico and began to record their second album called The Devil's Playground.
